** UNLIMITED USE POLICY: It is our policy to provide essentially unlimited resources for our clients' web sites within the bounds of reason. In rare cases, NTSNet may find a customer to be using server resources to such an extent as may jeopardize server performance and resources for other customers. In such instances, the client will be contacted with a view to moderating the demands. Under these circumstances NTSNet reserves the right to renegotiate the terms of the rental with the client. If agreement cannot be reached NTS Net reserves the right to terminate the account giving one months notice.
Domain names: we can arrange registration of .uk Domain names at a mere £19.50 plus VAT and .com registration at £35. Registration of .uk domains is free within our Hosting Packages. There is a surcharge of £15.50 for .com registration. .uk domain names are provided according to Nominet's standard Terms and Conditions.
Sub-domain names: we can arrange sub-domains within your own Domain name (e.g. www.another.yourdomain.co.uk) at no extra charge. Subdomains within the NTS Net domain (e.g. www.yourname.ntsnet.co.uk) are free to our hosting clients.
www.northwestbusiness.org.uk All NTS Net clients will be featured in our North West Business web site. This site is registered with major search engines and provides an additional route to Internet visibility.
Web-based Email Handler, available to all NTSNet clients. This allows incoming email to be read and replied to, new messages sent and the mailbox tidied up by deleting read emails. (A negotiable limit to the number of messages stored and the amount of email space used before the mailboxes become full will be set.)
Full CGI Support - each site has its own own CGI-bin directory enabling full and unrestricted use of CGI scripts. A Perl 5.0 interpreter is installed on the server.
Secure Sockets Layer Option - limited availability - contact us. To use this you will need to purchase an SSL certificate from either Thawte or Verisign.
If you are intending to set up on-line trading you might like to consider Actinic Catalog which provides bank-approved encryption without using SSL. This is a stand-alone system which can be added to your existing web site and needs no custom scripts or specail programs. All catalogue set up is done on your own computer before uploading to the server. Orders are downloaded from the server for action. Updating is quick and easy and under your own control. The cost of Actinic Catalogue is £349, a trifle compared to the cost of creating custom web pages and database. NTS Net. are an Actinic Reseller and can provide the program and, if you wish, install and configure it to your requirements before handing over to you.
iHTML Support. iHTML Professional Edition is installed on our servers. iHTML is a powerful server side scripting language which can rapidly speed up website development. Documentation for iHTML is available at Inline Software. If you intend to use iHTML contact us so that we can enable it on the server. There is no charge for this.
Microsoft ASP Support: ASP (Active Server Pages) is similar to iHTML. It is a powerful tool for creating dynamic content and connecting to ODBC databases. Documentation for ASP is available at Microsoft.
Cold Fusion Support for Allaire Cold Fusion 4.1.
While the above server side facilities are available, and NTSNet does make limited use of Perl and iHTML, NTSNet cannot provide support for users.
Web-site statistics: Our clients have access to the site access logs and, for charge of £2 per month, can have analysis by 'Live Stats'. 'Live Stats' can even tell you who is accessing your site in real time. We can set this up for you so that weekly or monthly reports are sent to you by email, or you can access them via your own control panel (See below). Live Stats is included within our Advanced User Package.

Your own Control Panel If you will frequently want to alter your email configuration, your auto-response messages, change your passwords or view your Live Stats we can provide you with your own control panel for a fee of £2 per month. Contact us for details. You may like to try out the panel by clicking here. The user name and password should both be 'test'. Control Panel is included within our Advanced User Package.
Search Engine Registration: We can arrange to register your site on a number of search engines. Rather than say, as many do, 'We will register your site on 500 search engines', many of which will be irrelevant, we would rather discuss with you where you would like to be registered.
Email Forwarding:When we create a domain for you, either an NTS Net sub-domain or using your own domain name, email facilities are created for you. There are a number of ways we can set up access to your email for you.
The simplest option is full email forwarding. Your dial-up access account with your ISP will undoubtedly give you an email address, perhaps an unlimited number. We can arrange for all email sent to your NTS Net domain to be forwarded to your dial-up access email address.
We can set up individual POP3 mailboxes for you, each of which can be accessed independently. We could, for example, set up joe@yourcompany.co.uk, jean@yourcompany.co.uk, sales@yourcomany.co.uk. Each of these would collect email on the NTS Net server waiting for you to collect it. Access to these email boxes is via a password which can be different for each POP3 box. You may use any email client to collect the mail or you can use the web based email reader at 'www.ntsnet.co.uk/mail'. This is provided for convenience and does not have all the facilities of dedicated email clients.
Mail bound for POP3 mailboxes can also be forwarded to other individual email addresses. We can also set up aliases so that 'promotion@yourname.co.uk' is automatically redirected to Joe, who is handling the promotion, at 'joe@yourname.co.uk'.
We can also set up an autorespond message so when an incoming message is received a message is sent back to the sender confirming receipt. This sounds fine, but if everyone did this there would be Internet chaos as autoresponders cheerfully responded to autoresponders in a never ending loop! The facility is there but should be used sparingly.
Server names: In order to access email and the ftp facilities associated with your NTS Net domain you will need to use client programs - which, in some cases, may simply be your web browser. If your domain name is 'www.yourname.co.uk' then the server names will be:
You will also have to provide a password for the POP3 and FTP servers. These will be allocated when your domain is set up but we can change them to passwords of your choice. The FTP server will also require a User ID. This will be allocated to you.
We can now offer Dial-up Access for all NTS Net clients. On request we will arrange local call rate telephone access for you.
Alternatively, unless you already have an Internet account, you will need to sign up with one of the many IAPs - Internet Access Providers. You may go for one of the 'tenner-a-month' providers such as Demon Internet or U-Net, or sign up with one of the free access providers such as Freeserve or Virgin. Paid-for, free, modem or ISDN makes no difference to your hosting on NTS Net.
When you want to move: If you want to move you Web site to another host we won't make a fuss (unless you have unpaid bills! ;-). Simply tell us where you want the site moved to and we will make the appropriate arrangements. We will need the domain name server information for the new host. You will be responsible for moving the files from our ftp server to your new server. If you have reached the end of your contract period we will allow you a reasonable time to transfer your files.
